Press Release Regarding PSJA School Board Member Roy Rodriguez and Co-Defendants

Okay, it's a couple of hours later, and the sun has finally set upon us this first official day of Spring, 2007. The official press release from the United States Department of Justice Southern District of Texas has the following on PSJA School Board Member Roy Rodriguez:

"Rodriguez is accused of receiving cash payments totalling $65,000 from his co-defendants (architect Jose 'Joe' Lopez, and McAllen masonry contractor Armando Gutierrez) between 1997 and 2004 in exchange for the use of the official power of his elected office to arrange and assist Lopez and Gutierrez with bids the(y) submitted for PSJA-ISD design and construction contracts."--Official Press Release from the U.S. Department of Justice Southern District of Texas. March 21, 2007.

As always, and as the press release states, an indictment is a formal accusation. The defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
